Accounting Manager, GL & Close (AI)

Location: Remote within the USA

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 base salary annually, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Own critical-path monthly close workstreams, resolve open items, escalate blockers, and keep the close calendar on track.
• Prepare complex and judgmental accounting areas, including stock-based compensation, leases, capitalized software, payroll accruals, intercompany accounting, and foreign currency.
• Review established accounting areas, including fixed assets, prepaids, cash, recurring accruals, journal entries, accounts payable, and expense reports.
• Own consolidation, close-package preparation, and month-over-month and budget-to-actual variance narratives.
• Manage and develop the Senior Accountant and offshore accounting team, including hiring as the function scales.
• Lead accounting workstreams for the first external audit, SOX control design, the ERP migration off Xero, and AI-based workflow automation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on ownership of technical close areas and experience reviewing another accountant’s work.
• Deep operational US GAAP knowledge covering capitalization, equity compensation, leases, payroll and compensation, intercompany accounting, foreign currency, and cutoff.
• Hands-on experience with ERP and accounting systems, equity administration platforms such as Carta, payroll systems, close tooling, and spend platforms.
• AI-native working style is required, including daily use of LLMs for accounting work and at least one AI tool built for daily use by others.
• Comfort building small scripts and automations with Python, SQL, or Apps Script.
• Strong review, written communication, ownership, integrity, and ambiguity-management skills.

Nice to have

• Active CPA and Big 4 or national accounting firm experience.
• Experience with a first external audit, ERP implementation or migration, SaaS or AI infrastructure accounting, and multi-entity intercompany accounting.
• SOX control documentation or public-company close experience.
• Experience with offshore or outsourced accounting teams and modern accounting tools such as NetSuite, Rillet, Numeric, FloQast, Carta, or Ramp.
