Staff Engineer, Applied AI

Location: US Remote - Jersey City, NJ; remote or hybrid work is considered. Candidates may be asked to attend an on-site interview during the final stages.

Salary: $165,848–$269,259 per year, with potential eligibility for bonuses, commissions, or other compensation.

What you will do

• Own the AI opportunity across a full business domain such as Operations, Marketplace, or Finance.
• Build technically demanding AI and agentic solutions from prototype through production, adoption, and measured impact.
• Extract reusable connectors, evaluation harnesses, and workflow patterns from successful builds.
• Define success metrics, instrument outcomes, and report cumulative portfolio value to business leaders.
• Design agents with traces, evaluations, and human-in-the-loop gates to support evidence-based autonomy.
• Build production-grade application layers around AI systems and mentor engineers through reviews, tooling, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• Experience owning a business domain, program, or product area and setting its roadmap.
• Multiple end-to-end agentic or AI-powered solutions deployed to real users in different contexts.
• Daily practical use of Claude, OpenAI, or similar models, with strong knowledge of models, frameworks, evaluations, and orchestration.
• Strong application engineering experience across frontend and backend systems, preferably full-stack, including reliability, security, latency, and scalability.
• Ability to translate strategic business problems into scoped portfolios and demonstrate measurable business value.
• Must be able to work legally in the United States; hirify.global uses E-Verify.
