Staff Software Engineer, CoPilot Agent Platform (AI)

Location: Remote, United States

Salary: $140,400–$372,300 per year, plus potential bonus, stock, and other rewards.

What you will do

• Define the technical direction and architecture of the cloud infrastructure powering autonomous software-development agents.
• Design, develop, test, and ship secure, durable, and globally scalable backend systems across hirify.global services.
• Build agent orchestration capabilities covering compute workloads, agent harnesses, custom tools, authentication, and identity.
• Design APIs, write architecture proposals, prototype approaches, and establish engineering standards.
• Lead technical decisions through mentorship, pairing, code reviews, and collaboration with staff and principal engineers.
• Own platform health through observability, incident response, on-call participation, performance optimization, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• 7–9+ years of software engineering experience depending on education, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years operating distributed backend systems at a senior level, including API design, data modeling, and production ownership.
• At least 1 year building and shipping AI/ML-powered production features as a software engineer.
• Production experience with at least one programming language such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• Ability to provide technical leadership, communicate across organizational boundaries, mentor engineers, and work autonomously.
• Experience with secure, reliable, high-availability systems and operational ownership.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Go, especially for multi-tenant, high-availability services.
• Experience with NoSQL or document databases such as Azure CosmosDB and event-driven architectures using Event Hubs, Kafka, or similar tools.
• Experience with OpenAPI or Swagger, generated API bindings, feature flags, staged rollouts, Kubernetes, Kustomize, or Terraform.
