Senior Safety Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: Wimborne, UK (Nuclear); onsite role.

What you will do

• Support safety engineering activities across business projects and apply appropriate safety engineering practices.
• Scope, draft, and estimate safety engineering work for bids.
• Generate, maintain, and obtain formal approval for high-quality safety documentation.
• Use systems engineering tools to manage safety requirements and prepare technical reports and requirements specifications for deployed equipment.
• Represent project safety engineering to project and customer communities and provide technical leadership in specified areas.
• Advise and mentor graduates, apprentices, and less-experienced team members while supporting design, production, test, and engineering process improvement activities.

Requirements

• HND, degree, or equivalent engineering qualification, preferably in electrical or electronic engineering.
• Experience in safety engineering and systems engineering or design within a safety-regulated industry.
• Knowledge of safety system design in accordance with IEC 61508 or similar standards, including IEC 61513 or IEC 61226.
• Awareness of systems engineering processes, standards, and methodologies such as IEC 15288 and UML.
• Knowledge of product lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of DOORS for requirements management.

Nice to have

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with membership of a relevant institution, or progress toward membership.
