Head of Terminal Design and SDR (SATCOM)

Location: Hybrid role based in Portsmouth or Stevenage, United Kingdom. Some UK travel to hirify.global sites and rare supplier visits is required. Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance is required.

What you will do

• Lead and develop two R&D engineering teams of approximately 30 people covering maritime terminals and Software Defined Radio.
• Represent both teams in multifunctional team meetings and maintain focus on overall programme objectives.
• Drive the development, refinement, and sustainment of reusable SDR and maritime terminal products.
• Manage team resources, recruitment planning, training, objectives, performance reviews, development plans, and cost control.
• Ensure the required competences, tools, and processes support products aligned with market, customer, and end-user needs.
• Work with project teams to deliver roadmaps, schedules, assessments, cost and risk estimates, and commitments.

Requirements

• Experience in at least one of the following areas: SATCOM, telecommunications, ground segment, terminal design, or secure satellite communications for defence.
• Strong leadership skills and experience developing and championing engineering teams.
• Experience with the V-Model, Agile methods, and programme leadership.
• Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance.
• Ability to work in a dynamic R&D environment with a strong focus on customer delivery, project integrity, and commitments.
