Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

Location: Remote U.S.

Salary: $195K–$229K base pay annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own complex backend projects from problem definition and technical design through implementation, rollout, and operation.
• Design and evolve backend systems, APIs, and data models for scheduling Tests, executing checks, and processing results.
• Improve the reliability, correctness, performance, and observability of the Tests runtime.
• Investigate complex production issues, identify root causes, and build durable solutions.
• Simplify systems and improve abstractions and interfaces used by other engineering teams.
• Collaborate across system and team boundaries, provide design and code review feedback, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Strong experience building and operating reliable, scalable backend systems in production.
• Independent delivery of complex technical projects with ambiguous problems or solutions.
• Strong fundamentals in backend system design, APIs, and data modeling.
• Ability to debug and reason about correctness, reliability, performance, and scalability across complex systems.
• Ability to make technical tradeoffs, own production systems, and communicate technical decisions clearly.
• Willingness to use AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript, GraphQL, MongoDB, and observability tools such as Datadog.
