Legal and Contracts Operations Manager (AI)

Location: Hybrid/on-site at the office in Austin, Texas, United States

Salary: $115,000–$155,000 per year, plus equity grants and cash bonuses

What you will do

• Own the execution lifecycle for legal operations, public sector contracts, and federal compliance.
• Triage, review, evaluate, and manage customer contracts, subcontracts, teaming and partnership agreements, software licenses, vendor agreements, and NDAs.
• Negotiate basic agreement terms directly with counterparties.
• Translate contractual and regulatory requirements into practical instructions for operational teams.
• Maintain contract databases, optimize tracking workflows, and build a scalable internal legal function.
• Collaborate with business development, engineering, security, IT, and company leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 3–7 years of experience in a corporate legal department, technology company, or defense contractor, focused on legal operations, paralegal work, or contract management.
• Direct experience with initial document triage and comprehensive review of commercial and public sector agreements.
• Experience analyzing, logging, and tracking FAR and DFARS clauses and translating them into concrete internal actions.
• Experience implementing or administering contract lifecycle management process improvements.
• Strong document drafting, communication, attention to detail, professional maturity, and diligence with sensitive information.
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a Secret US security clearance, plus authorization to work in the United States.

Nice to have

• Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program or Certified Legal Operations Professional designation.
• Experience with software licensing, EULAs, and third-party AI tool usage terms.
• Experience with EAR, ITAR, export compliance gates, patent processing, employment law, or Department of Defense contracts.
• Experience establishing a legal function in a growth-stage startup or implementing a CLM platform.
• Exposure to NIST SP 800-171, CMMC 2.0, or NISPOM frameworks.
