Location: Los Angeles, California, USA; eligible for hire in select U.S. locations. Field-based role requiring approximately 70% travel with overnight stays.

Salary: USD 185,000–210,000 per year

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary medical point of contact for an assigned geographic area and provide scientific expertise in ophthalmology, particularly retinal disease and neovascular age-related macular degeneration.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with KOLs, healthcare professionals, health systems, medical groups, professional societies, advocacy organizations, and public health institutions.
  • Conduct compliant scientific exchange, advisory boards, clinical and scientific presentations, medical meeting participation, and responses to unsolicited medical information requests.
  • Develop KOL and account engagement plans, profile institutions and patient care pathways, and provide clinical intelligence and market insights.
  • Support clinical research, investigator-initiated trial proposals, implementation activities, internal training, and cross-functional collaboration with Medical Affairs, R&D, and commercial colleagues.
  • Manage territory activities, travel expenses, congress reporting, and compliance with corporate SOPs and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree such as OD, PharmD, PhD, MD, MSN, DNP, or NP/PA.
  • For MSL: at least 2 years of MSL experience, including at least 1 year in ophthalmology with knowledge of retinal disorders.
  • For Senior MSL: at least 5 years of pharmaceutical experience and 3 years of rare disease or ophthalmology experience.
  • Ability to interpret and present scientific, clinical, value, and evidence data to KOLs, healthcare providers, payers, and formulary committees.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology standards of care, screening and wellness programs, and institutions and clinics in assigned geographies.
  • Ability to travel frequently, approximately 70%, including overnight stays.

  • Prior product launch experience.
  • Experience sharing scientific content with payer systems.
  • Experience with retinal specialists, ophthalmology and optometry clinics, or neovascular age-related macular degeneration.
