Engineer Intern

Location: Charlotte, NC, United States

Hourly rate: $18–$21 per hour

Provides technical surface treatment and metal improvement services as part of Curtiss-Wright Corporation, serving commercial, industrial, defense, and energy markets.

What you will do

• Work with the Business Unit Manager to optimize the shot peening process through design and execution.
• Operate and maintain a 3D printer and fabricate custom tooling using conventional methods and 3D printing.
• Create SolidWorks models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
• Identify masking and process improvement opportunities.
• Support machine improvements, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Research and procure materials from vendors and potentially travel to facilities for on-site work.

Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering student at sophomore level or higher.
• At least a 3.0 GPA in the major.
• CAD modeling experience, ideally with SolidWorks.
• 3D printing experience, including Cura software.
• Experience designing and building projects such as robotics, catapult, HPVC, or personal projects.
• The position may involve exposure to export-controlled information and additional security screening.

Nice to have

• Manual lathe and vertical mill experience.
