Staff Software Engineer (iOS)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $202,500–$274,000 per year; may also include cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the technical vision and multi-quarter iOS architecture roadmap across Workforce Solutions.
• Build scalable iOS applications, durable components, and shared frameworks using hands-on development.
• Design and ship intelligent features powered by on-device models, choosing between device and cloud inference based on latency, cost, privacy, and offline requirements.
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives, solution integration, and partnerships with product managers, designers, backend, and platform groups.
• Raise engineering standards through code and design reviews, test automation, observability, release health, and security practices.
• Coach and mentor engineers while tracking Apple platform and annual iOS and SDK changes.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years building and shipping production iOS applications.
• Deep expertise in Swift, Objective-C interoperability, SwiftUI, UIKit, Swift Concurrency, Combine, and scalable app architecture patterns.
• Experience modularizing large iOS codebases with dependency injection and versioned internal frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with Core ML, Vision, Natural Language, Foundation Models, and on-device LLM inference.
• Expertise in iOS delivery, testing, performance, security, and compliance, including Xcode, Swift Package Manager or CocoaPods, Fastlane, CI/CD, XCTest/XCUITest, Instruments, Keychain, and biometric authentication.
• Ability to collaborate on API and contract design, communicate complex technical issues, and mentor engineers; BS/MS in computer science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apple Intelligence capabilities such as App Intents, Writing Tools, Visual Intelligence, or Siri integration.
• Experience with model conversion, quantization, Neural Engine optimization, and LLM-backed product features.
• Experience in large-scale consumer mobile applications, multi-team or monorepo environments, experimentation, feature flagging, or shared-code approaches.
• Background in fintech, payroll, or other privacy- and regulation-sensitive domains.
