TL;DR
Applications Engineer (Aerospace Manufacturing): Developing and deploying machining processes, automation, and production standards for complex aerospace and defense components with an accent on CNC strategy, tooling, workholding, inspection, and process control. Focus on taking high-complexity parts from print to production, diagnosing failures across manufacturing systems, and scaling lights-out capabilities across U.S. factories.

Location: Mesa, Arizona, United States; on-site

Company

hirify.global builds autonomous factories that combine AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing for aerospace and defense production.

What you will do

  • Develop machining processes for complex aerospace and defense components, including machining strategy, tooling, workholding, probing, and inspection.
  • Take 0-to-1 New Product Introduction parts from drawings through production for new customers, materials, and part families.
  • Build automation, process-control, and software workflows that reduce operator and engineering intervention.
  • Set machine, tooling, and process standards for adoption across multiple hirify.global factories.
  • Diagnose production failures across process, equipment, software, and operational causes, then implement lasting standard changes.
  • Collaborate with CAM, CNC Controls, Robotics, Software, Quality, and Operations teams on factory launches, machine bring-up, and production stabilization.

Requirements

  • Track record of solving difficult manufacturing problems and building technical systems that work reliably in production.
  • Depth in one or two areas such as machining, manufacturing engineering, automation, robotics, metrology, simulation, tooling, or manufacturing software.
  • Working knowledge of machining fundamentals, including tooling, workholding, GD&T, inspection, and process validation.
  • Ability to trace problems across process, equipment, software, and operational causes.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with machinists, engineers, and factory leadership.
  • Must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Multi-axis CNC machining, mill-turn, or production experience with titanium and Inconel.
  • CAM programming with hyperMILL, NX, Mastercam, or similar platforms, and macro programming on Heidenhain or Fanuc controllers.
  • Experience with automated metrology, in-process inspection, statistical process control, load monitoring, or tool-life monitoring.
  • Experience with palletized automation, robotic machine tending, lights-out production, Python, version control, production data analysis, simulation, or FEA.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, semiconductor, medical, energy, or similarly demanding environments.

Culture & Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Equity participation.
  • Relocation support may be provided in certain situations based on business need.
