Software Engineer (Applied AI/ML)

Location: Santa Clara, California, or remote within the United States. Remote employees must travel to the Santa Clara headquarters twice per quarter based on business or team needs, and must work in person at headquarters during the first two weeks of onboarding. Applicants must meet the definition of a U.S. person under applicable export-control laws.

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 per year.

What you will do

• Invent and implement practical LLM-based workflows for engineering and business processes.
• Design, deploy, and maintain production machine learning models for nuclear-system design and analysis.
• Develop surrogate models for real-time digital twins.
• Ensure rigorous security and information control for AI-enabled workflows and data.
• Lead AI roadmaps, product demonstrations, and progress updates for senior leadership.
• Grow and manage a software engineering team supporting AI initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or equivalent software engineering experience.
• Experience managing or integrating AI into large corporate data ontologies and leading company-wide initiatives from inception through delivery and maintenance.
• Knowledge of physics-informed machine learning, surrogate models, symbolic encodings, or digital twins.
• Fluency in Python, with proficiency in Git, CI/CD pipelines, large data collection pipelines, optimization, statistics, and design of experiments.
• Experience growing small software organizations and communicating technical content and results clearly.
• Ability to meet U.S. person eligibility requirements for work involving U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice to have

• Rust development and TypeScript/JavaScript development, especially Svelte.
• GitLab CI/CD experience.
• Experience with sensitive, controlled, externally regulated data and AI quality-assurance or compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of nuclear engineering, fast reactor design, Monte Carlo neutronics tools, or deterministic fast-reactor tools.
