Senior Software Engineer, Machine Learning (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates must be permanently domiciled in the U.S.

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain core AI capabilities for an enterprise AI platform.
• Develop reusable functionality for foundation model integration, reasoning, multimodal understanding, structured generation, evaluation, and AI workflows.
• Build backend services, APIs, and distributed AI systems for production use.
• Experiment with emerging AI techniques and translate successful prototypes into scalable platform capabilities.
• Improve production systems through debugging, quantitative evaluation, and optimization of latency, reliability, observability, scalability, and cost.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deploy AI services that support product teams.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship or permanent U.S. residency is required.
• Permanent U.S. domicile and a home address in the United States are required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience building production software systems with strong skills in Rust, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience building scalable backend services, distributed systems, APIs, or data-intensive applications.
• Hands-on experience integrating large language models or other foundation models into production applications, including testing, observability, reliability, and maintainability practices.

Nice to have

• Experience building reusable AI capabilities or shared AI services.
• Experience deploying, optimizing, or serving open-source foundation models.
• Knowledge of AI evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, or datasets.
• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, multimodal AI, AI agents, or model orchestration.
