Senior Software Engineer - Machine Learning (AI)

Location: Remote within the USA. US citizenship or a green card is required due to US Government contract requirements.

Salary: $230,000–$270,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain core AI capabilities for an enterprise AI platform.
• Develop reusable functionality for foundation model integration, reasoning, multimodal understanding, structured generation, tool calling, evaluation, and AI workflows.
• Build backend services, APIs, and distributed AI systems for scalable production deployment.
• Experiment with emerging AI techniques and translate successful prototypes into production-ready platform capabilities.
• Improve system latency, reliability, observability, scalability, and cost through debugging and iterative optimization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered product capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience building production software systems.
• Strong programming skills in Rust, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience building scalable backend services, distributed systems, APIs, or data-intensive applications.
• Hands-on experience integrating large language models or other foundation models into production applications.
• Strong understanding of testing, observability, reliability, maintainability, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience building reusable AI capabilities or shared AI services.
• Experience deploying, optimizing, or serving open-source foundation models.
• Knowledge of AI evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, or datasets.
• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Experience with RAG, multimodal AI, AI agents, or model orchestration.
