Senior Patient Access Specialist -3rd Shift

Location: Onsite at Mercy - Fairfield Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio, United States. Full-time 3rd shift, 9:00 p.m.–5:30 a.m.; on-call and weekend rotation required.

Salary: $18.65–$19.90 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform admitting and patient access duties for hospital services while following organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, complete medical necessity and compliance checks, collect insurance information, process physician orders, and provide patient instructions.
• Complete pre-registration through inbound and outbound calls, collecting demographic, insurance, financial liability, point-of-service, and past-due balance information.
• Explain and obtain signatures for treatment consents, Medicare and Tricare notices, observation forms, MOON forms, and other patient documents.
• Review insurance eligibility responses, select plan codes, enter benefit data, and support point-of-service collections and clean claim rates.
• Audit and report on patient accounts, correct documentation issues, and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in patient access or a leadership role.
• Understanding of revenue cycle processes, including admissions, billing, payments, denials, authorizations, and benefits verification.
• Knowledge of health insurance requirements, medical terminology, CPT codes, or procedure codes.
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) and/or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR); certification is company-paid.
• Ability to work onsite in Fairfield, Ohio, on the 3rd shift, with on-call and weekend rotation.
• Inquisitiveness and openness to innovation, including AI, to improve processes and patient and client experiences.
