Software Team Lead (Embedded)

Location: Onsite in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 90,300–140,000 annually, plus bonus opportunity

What you will do

• Lead software developers delivering new embedded products and supporting existing embedded product lines.
• Engineer, design, develop, and test embedded firmware and software for complex products.
• Plan deliverables, break down tasks, provide estimates, and ensure on-time software delivery.
• Analyze requirements, research solutions, and lead architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Develop device drivers and resolve complex device integration issues across Intel, Power Architecture, and Arm processors.
• Coach, mentor, and support the career development and performance evaluation of assigned staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including at least 3 years in a technical leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, engineering best practices, portable code, troubleshooting, debugging, and process improvement.
• Proficiency in C for embedded firmware and device-driver development.
• Experience with Das U-Boot for ARM and Power Architecture, UEFI for Intel, Slim Bootloader, bare-metal programming, and board bring-up.
• Familiarity with Linux, VxWorks, Windows, Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Python, hardware debugging tools, and interfaces including PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, SATA, USB, eMMC, and NVMe.
