Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; onsite in the office 5 days a week

Salary: $125,000–$250,000 USD per year, plus potential discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Develop solutions for complex technical problems at the intersection of engineering and IT.
• Build performance tooling and automated performance testing libraries, frameworks, and infrastructure.
• Use Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Loki, Grafana, Elasticsearch, and Kubernetes to improve platform and customer application performance.
• Investigate and remediate customer performance issues.
• Debug and resolve production incidents while building automation to prevent recurring problems.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building and delivering software applications.
• Deep knowledge of the JVM, garbage collection, heap dump analysis, Java, application servers such as Tomcat and Spring, and databases.
• Knowledge of Linux system fundamentals, including threading and context switching.
• Experience with Java, Python, or other interpreted languages; C or C++ is also considered.
• Experience with CI/CD, test automation, GitLab, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring, debugging, observability, and tracing tools.
• B.S. in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent coding experience.
