Cloud Platform Engineering Manager (AI)

What you will do

• Own the strategy, engineering, and operation of the enterprise AI platform, including Azure API Management, Azure AI Foundry, lifecycle environments, and supporting cloud infrastructure.
• Lead gateway traffic management, rate limiting, identity integration, model routing, capacity planning, and platform performance.
• Establish service levels, runbooks, on-call practices, business continuity capabilities, incident response, and production support processes.
• Oversee model onboarding, provider integration, multi-provider resilience, inference cost management, observability, audit trails, and AI safety controls.
• Manage vendors, contractual deliverables, budgets, cloud costs, and the transition of externally developed capabilities to internal teams.
• Hire, develop, and lead engineering teams while communicating platform architecture, risks, controls, and recommendations to senior stakeholders, auditors, and regulators.

Requirements

• At least 11 years of combined higher education and/or work experience, including 4 years in engineering or architecture and 5 years of leadership experience with people management.
• Experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, cloud architecture, or a related discipline.
• Experience operating API gateway infrastructure at scale, including traffic management, rate limiting, identity integration, and routing.
• Experience with Azure services and technologies, including Azure AI Foundry, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Monitor, and Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience with vendor delivery, observability, OpenTelemetry, SIEM integration, cloud cost monitoring, audit trails, and regulatory or compliance reviews.
• Experience working in a regulated industry and leading multiple teams, vendors, and complex technology initiatives.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with large language model serving, model routing, multi-provider failover, and inference cost management.
• Experience with AI safety guardrails, content filtering, personally identifiable information interception, and prompt shielding.
• FinOps or platform-level cloud cost management experience.
• Experience establishing an early-stage platform engineering capability and defining its operating model.
