Director of Engineering (TypeScript)

Location: Remote across the United States; travel for company kick-offs and mid-year meetings twice a year.

Salary: $220,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead the Engineering organization across two teams and directly manage all engineers.
• Partner with Product to drive on-time delivery, quality, scope, estimation, and execution.
• Coach and grow engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, and development conversations.
• Staff initiatives, pair them with Tech Leads, and develop the Tech Lead bench.
• Identify and resolve staffing gaps, priority conflicts, and delivery delays.
• Support hiring and contribute to architecture reviews, technical-debt analysis, and scaling decisions.

Requirements

• Progression from a technical role into engineering leadership.
• Experience managing multiple engineering teams in a fully remote environment.
• Experience operating as the senior-most engineering leader or as the only manager in a group.
• Significant technical experience in at least one area of the stack, with credible architecture and scoping skills.
• Experience partnering with Product on delivery commitments and managing remote teams.
• Excellent written communication and a strong accountability- and action-oriented approach.

• Experience with AI-enabled software development.
• Experience with developer-facing products.
• Experience with high-scale SaaS platforms or scaling startups.
