Director of Engineering

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work model with in-office and remote flexibility

Salary: $255,000–$300,000 annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead and evolve the core product experiences and the engineering teams behind the member platform.
• Act as a player-coach, balancing hands-on technical contribution with people leadership.
• Manage, mentor, and grow engineering managers and leaders while building a high-performance and empathetic culture.
• Partner with Product, Design, Operations, and engineering teams to deliver a robust platform and complex, highly visible projects.
• Drive architecture, design, product, and data-modeling decisions across teams using full-stack capabilities.
• Promote modern AI tools and agent-based workflows to accelerate development, improve code quality, and enable new product capabilities.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years of management experience.
• Technical depth in end-to-end systems ownership, architecture, design, and data modeling.
• Demonstrated success as a hands-on player-coach.
• Experience managing teams that have delivered products with solid technical foundations.
• Organizational leadership experience and the ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and weigh trade-offs.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model based in San Francisco.
