Aegis Software Engineer

Location: 100% onsite in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, United States. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. Travel of up to 10% may be required.

Salary: $90,000–$184,000 per year. Published pay ranges include $90,000–$150,000 and $114,000–$184,000, depending on experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services for missile defense systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to implement features, resolve defects, and improve system capabilities.
• Integrate software components, APIs, databases, and third-party technologies into existing systems.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, deployment, modernization, and sustainment activities.
• Create technical documentation, design artifacts, and operational procedures throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, data science, cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with one or more of C++, Java, Python, or JavaScript, plus Git or a similar version control system.
• Experience with Linux-based environments and familiarity with SQL, relational databases, and container technologies such as Docker, Podman, or OCI-compliant containers.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and collaboration skills; ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• Professional experience with the Aegis Weapon System.
• Experience with complex software system development, modernization, or sustainment.
• Scripting and automation with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Groovy.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, Agile, DevSecOps, cloud-native technologies, container orchestration, or platform engineering.
• Strong technical documentation, communication, initiative, ownership, and independent task execution skills.
