Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid workplace. Ability to travel to customer sites is required as needed by the engagement. Visa sponsorship is not available, including H-1B sponsorship.

Base compensation: USD 150,000–170,000 per year, plus performance-based bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Work directly with customer technical teams to understand workflows, systems, data, constraints, and desired outcomes.
• Design, build, deploy, and stabilize production solutions using networking products and cloud platforms.
• Write production software including applications, agents, APIs, integrations, data connectors, workflows, and automation.
• Integrate products with customer systems, data sources, identity systems, infrastructure, and operational workflows.
• Build automated tests, AI evaluations, deployment automation, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, logging, monitoring, and tracing.
• Identify reusable engineering patterns and platform gaps, and collaborate with Product teams on new feature requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development lifecycle experience covering design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations.
• Strong software development experience in one or more of Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, C#, or C++.
• Experience with distributed, cloud-based, or enterprise software systems, APIs, integrations, data, containers, and modern deployment practices.
• Experience debugging complex systems and delivering production-quality solutions in ambiguous technical environments.
• Experience collaborating with customers, partners, or external technical teams; strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building LLM-based or agentic systems involving tool use, retrieval, orchestration, context management, evaluation, or production deployment.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol and modern agent frameworks.
• Experience with networking, network management, telemetry, observability, distributed systems, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, or CI/CD.
• Experience integrating enterprise APIs, data platforms, identity systems, operational applications, distributed data platforms, streaming systems, or real-time processing.
• Prior Forward Deployed Engineering or technical customer-facing software engineering experience.
