TL;DR
Software Engineer, Missile Defense Simulation (Principal) (Python/C++/aerospace): Building and validating mission- and engagement-level simulations for space and missile defense, including threats, sensors, spacecraft, interceptors, and command-and-control systems, with an accent on physics-based modeling, digital engineering, and end-to-end kill-chain analysis. Focus on integrating SIL/HIL environments, performing VV&A and Monte Carlo studies, correlating results with test data, and presenting technical recommendations to engineering and government stakeholders.

Location: Hybrid work with required onsite work; candidates will be located near Denver or Colorado Springs, with the listed offices in Denver, Colorado or Long Beach, California.

Base salary: $90,000–$325,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

Company

hirify.global develops autonomous spacecraft, advanced payloads, mission software, and space-based interceptors for space superiority and missile defense.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain physics-based models for threats, sensors, spacecraft, interceptors, communications links, and command-and-control systems.
  • Build mission- and engagement-level simulations for end-to-end detect, track, target, engage, and assess analysis.
  • Integrate models into digital engineering, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and distributed simulation environments.
  • Define and execute model verification, validation, and accreditation, correlating simulation results with test and flight data.
  • Develop analysis tooling, automation, and visualization in Python and C++.
  • Run Monte Carlo, sensitivity, and trade studies while collaborating with systems, GNC, payload, software, and flight-test engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, computer science, a similar discipline, or relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in modeling and simulation, mission analysis, or aerospace and defense systems engineering.
  • Experience modeling threats, interceptors, sensors, spacecraft dynamics, orbit determination, rendezvous and proximity operations, or command-and-control systems.
  • Proficiency in Python and C++, with working knowledge of orbital mechanics, flight dynamics, or missile and interceptor trajectories.
  • Experience with Monte Carlo methods, statistical analysis, and data visualization, plus strong technical communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance; ITAR eligibility is required.

Nice to have

  • Active DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance and SAP eligibility.
  • Experience supporting space or missile defense programs.
  • Knowledge of numerical methods, estimation and filtering, optimization, design of experiments, or 6DOF simulation.
  • Experience with uncertainty quantification, model VV&A, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.

Culture & Benefits

  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA/HRA options.
  • Flexible time off or accrued PTO, paid holidays, parental leave, and sick leave.
  • 401(k) retirement plan, fitness reimbursement, and equity participation.
  • Catered lunch and snacks for in-office employees.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary environment focused on space superiority and defense technology.
