Staff+ Software Engineer, Developer Experience (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY. Hybrid policy: staff are expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time. Preference is given to candidates based in New York or the Bay Area.

Annual salary: $405,000–$485,000 USD

What you will do

• Drive the technical direction of the Claude Platform Console and documentation platform from problem definition through launch.
• Define platform patterns and engineering standards for internal teams building features on the Console.
• Own SDKs across seven languages and the Claude CLI.
• Partner with API teams to deliver new platform capabilities as idiomatic, ergonomic SDK features.
• Lead code generation, testing, and release pipelines that keep SDKs consistent and shipping quickly.
• Mentor engineers and drive cross-team alignment to deliver impactful developer-facing products.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of practical full-stack engineering experience.
• Experience leading the design and delivery of complex developer-facing products across the full stack.
• Deep expertise in modern frontend and backend development, including React and TypeScript.
• Experience establishing engineering standards, component architectures, and development best practices.
• Experience driving cross-team or cross-organization alignment through influence and technical leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Two or more years operating at a Staff-level or equivalent technical leadership level.
• Experience in an early-stage startup or rapidly evolving environment.
• Experience building products from 0 to 1.
