DevOps Engineer (Big Data)

Location: Hybrid in San Antonio, TX, US; attendance at the San Antonio office is required an average of 1–2 days per week, with onsite frequency and locations potentially varying based on customer, company, and contract requirements.

Salary: $100,173–$140,000 annually.

What you will do

• Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, especially EKS, as well as on-premise and portable edge infrastructure.
• Automate deployment processes and manage Kubernetes containers and AWS infrastructure.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into the infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, resolving issues and ensuring service reliability and scalability.
• Continuously improve infrastructure processes and tools for high availability and performance.
• Explore new technologies and infrastructure improvement approaches.

Requirements

• Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship are required.
• 5+ years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor’s degree; or 3 years of relevant experience with a related master’s degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda, and their use in infrastructure deployment and management.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible; experience deploying, scaling, and managing applications, containers, and operating systems.
• Ability to develop in multiple programming languages, including Python, Bash, or Go; familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools.
• Comfort working in a terminal-based environment and proficient Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites.
• DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification, such as Security+, is required, or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment at the San Antonio, TX office an average of 1–2 days per week; flexibility to adapt to schedule changes is required.

Nice to have

• Current TS/SCI-level clearance.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Experience with K9s, AWS CLI, and AWS services such as SNS, SQS, and Diode.
