What you will do

  • Own materials and processes activities for reusable liquid-propulsion turbomachinery products, materials systems, and disciplines.
  • Qualify turbomachinery materials and products for flight and reuse.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain technical specifications and engineering standards.
  • Lead statistically driven experimental design and process-improvement campaigns.
  • Collaborate with materials, laboratory, design, manufacturing, quality, and propulsion engineering teams on qualification, production, compliance, and failure analysis.
  • Support fracture-control boards and company leadership in addressing risks and enabling vehicle reuse.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials science, materials engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant turbomachinery materials experience.
  • Experience with propulsion hardware materials and processes, including material selection, qualification, damage tolerance, inspections, risk assessments, and failure analysis.
  • Experience qualifying materials and parts for laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing or traditional forming processes such as wrought materials, forgings, or castings.
  • Strong accountability, collaboration, execution, and interdisciplinary relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on iterating turbomachinery products and processes while supporting manufacturing scale-up and reuse.

Nice to have

  • Deep knowledge of turbomachinery for reusable aerospace or rocket engines.
  • Expertise with nickel, ferrous, aluminum, or titanium alloy systems.
  • Metallic additive manufacturing, laser powder bed fusion, welding, forging, casting, surface modification, or coating processes.
  • Knowledge of statistical experimental design and design allowable calculation methodologies.
