Senior Propulsion Engineer, Engine Base Heatshield (Aerospace)

Salary: $132,000–$198,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Design, analyze, develop, test, and qualify heatshield hardware for multiple engine and flight configurations.
• Use development testing and flight data to iterate on hardware and assess post-flight suitability for reuse.
• Own the design and integration of thermal protection system components for Aeon-R engines and Terran R first stages.
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with Responsible Engineers across propulsion and vehicle teams.
• Partner with manufacturing and supply chain to transition designs from development to production.
• Support vehicle and engine integration and oversee hardware builds on the manufacturing floor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, technology, mathematics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing structural hardware.
• Experience applying fluid, thermal, structural, and mechanical design fundamentals.
• Experience with CAD software, GD&T, and mechanical drafting, including Siemens NX, SOLIDWORKS, or similar tools.
• Excellent written and oral communication, including translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced and demanding environment and deliver against ambitious schedules.

Nice to have

• Experience designing propulsion components or systems for extreme thermal environments.
• Direct experience with thermal protection systems or heatshields.
• Experience across development, qualification, production ramp, and final integration.
• Experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, ANSYS Workbench, and aerospace standards such as AS, NAS, and SAE.
