Senior Propulsion Engineer

Location: Onsite in Hawthorne, California, United States. The role requires outdoor work in extreme weather conditions and occasional evenings or weekends to support critical mission milestones.

Salary: $130,000–$190,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Advance the E-2 engine design with the engineering team and Chief Engineer.
• Create models, drawings, schematics, and process documentation for parts and assemblies.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses with team support.
• Work with manufacturing on 3D-printed, machined, post-processed, and inspected propulsion parts.
• Support propulsion component assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Communicate progress and issues while following workplace safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, development, fabrication, assembly, or testing, including internships.
• Experience with hands-on engineering across design, fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, solve problems, communicate clearly, and maintain professional relationships.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted.
• Must be a U.S. person under applicable export-control regulations or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.

Nice to have

• NX CAD experience.
• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing experience.
• ANSYS and MATLAB experience.
