Engineering Designer - Electrical (Automotive)

Location: Warren, Michigan, United States; hybrid with on-site work at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week. Relocation benefits are available.

What you will do

• Develop virtual vehicle integration solutions for electrical systems and components in line with vehicle architecture, packaging constraints, and program requirements.
• Create and refine Siemens NX math models, assemblies, routing layouts, criteria, typical sections, and virtual integration data.
• Design and integrate wiring harnesses, connectors, terminals, sensors, control modules, power distribution components, brackets, channels, enclosures, and protective coverings.
• Perform clearance, interference, routing, motion, accessibility, serviceability, and configuration studies from component level through complete-vehicle integration.
• Support design reviews, build events, validation activities, release timing, and the Global Vehicle Development Process.
• Coordinate with electrical engineers, design release engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and fellow designers to deliver on-time, high-quality releases.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• At least 5 years of experience in automotive electrical design, CAD, virtual integration, electrical packaging, or a related engineering design discipline.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX and parametric modeling, including the creation and modification of 3D math models and assemblies.
• Strong understanding of electrical component integration, harness routing, packaging, clearances, interfaces, and configuration management.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, design for manufacturability, design for assembly, serviceability, and subsystem integration.
• Must be able to work on-site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week and must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with vehicle wiring harnesses, connectors, terminals, sensors, control modules, power distribution components, or electrical enclosures.
• Knowledge of automotive electrical standards, EMC/EMI, grounding, shielding, sealing, and environmental protection.
• Experience with suppliers, manufacturing processes, prototype builds, validation events, or production launch support.
• Experience with product lifecycle management, requirements management, or engineering data management systems.
• Master’s degree in Engineering.
