TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear): Designing and developing nuclear-qualified mechanical components, systems, sensors, and instrumentation with an accent on ASME Code compliance, reliability, safety, and regulated quality systems. Focus on leading technical design work, performing FEA and engineering calculations, resolving complex technical issues, and guiding multidisciplinary teams through customer delivery and manufacturing.

Location: Round Rock, Texas, United States — onsite

Salary: $94,700–$110,000 annually

Engineering and design manufacturing business developing sensors, instrumentation, and control solutions for harsh environments and mission-critical applications in regulated markets including nuclear, aerospace, and oil and gas.

What you will do

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems, including prototypes and reliability and safety testing.
  • Perform mechanical calculations and apply ASME Code requirements to qualified nuclear sensors and instrumentation.
  • Prepare design drawings, technical documents, manufacturing bills of materials, procedures, calculations, estimates, and customer proposals.
  • Check and approve scoping and FEA calculations while ensuring compliance with customer standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Resolve technical issues, implement change control, and assess related commercial impacts.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and collaborate with project managers, customers, sales, and multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • At least 5 years of applicable industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical engineering, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret design drawings and calculation summaries.
  • Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS.

Nice to have

  • U.S. Professional Engineer license.
  • Experience with Syteline or a similar ERP system.
  • Experience with nuclear, aerospace, and commercial quality systems, including NQA-1, RCCE/RCCM, AS9100, and ISO 900X.
  • Availability to travel to customers or other sites within the United States.
