What you will do

• Build and service a sound, profitable portfolio of commercial business relationships and loans.
• Originate, analyze, structure, underwrite, negotiate, and close commercial loan transactions.
• Monitor existing accounts, confirm creditworthiness, review compliance findings, and manage emerging portfolio risks.
• Coordinate attorneys, accountants, consultants, appraisers, title companies, government agencies, and internal support teams.
• Promote and cross-sell business checking, treasury management, and other banking products.
• Mentor junior Relationship Managers and keep management informed about portfolio, client, and competitive developments.

Requirements

• Four-year college degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
• At least 8 years of commercial lending experience.
• Strong analytical, credit, interpersonal, organizational, oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
• Thorough knowledge of commercial loan underwriting guidelines and financial statement analysis.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and other business software.
• Ability to work in an office in Detroit, Michigan.

Nice to have

• Experience negotiating, structuring, underwriting, and closing complex commercial loan transactions.
• 12 or more years of middle-market lending experience.
• MBA in Finance or Accounting.
• Legal documentation experience and knowledge of SBA or similar government guarantee programs.
