Senior Data Engineer, Unified Platform (Fintech)

Location: Chicago or New York City, United States

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 annual base salary, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Model, build, and manage data products on the Unified Data Platform.
• Onboard and manage vendor datasets for trading, quantitative research, and back-office functions.
• Design data governance processes covering dataset discovery, cost-sharing, usage tracking, access controls, and quality control.
• Monitor ingestion pipelines and data quality, and develop software and processes for reliability and quality control.
• Own vendor ingestion pipelines, coordinate changes with vendor relationship managers, perform data operations, and participate in the on-call rotation.
• Respond to user requests and identify platform gaps and self-service opportunities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience with modern data technologies and data-first products.
• Extensive experience designing and building batch and streaming data pipelines.
• Expertise in SQL and Java or Python, including maintainable production data transformations.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, data storage technologies, data formats, and serialization systems.
• Experience with data processing technologies such as Flink, Spark, Polars, or Dask, and orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
• Experience operating large data pipelines, managing migrations, monitoring throughput, handling dead-letter queues, and correcting data quality issues.
