Software Engineer (Java/React)

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid with in-office presence twice a week

What you will do

• Build and maintain features and services for Bauer Media Audio’s business-critical audio platform.
• Contribute to prototyping, early-stage feature development, and increasing ownership of technical work.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, architecture exploration, and collaboration with product and technology colleagues.
• Apply testing, CI/CD, automation, observability, containerisation, security, and DevOps practices.
• Participate in incident management rotas and provide technical support during high-pressure situations.
• Support knowledge sharing, pairing, interviews, and onboarding of new engineers.

Requirements

• Solid software engineering experience with the ability to work independently across frontend and backend features.
• Experience with or willingness to work across Java Spring Boot and AWS backend technologies and TypeScript/React frontend technologies.
• Knowledge of microservices, APIs, cloud-based deployment, CI/CD, containerisation, DevOps, testing, and security best practices.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, communication, documentation, and constructive collaboration skills.
• Experience in a product-led, agile software delivery environment and familiarity with incident management or on-call responsibilities.
• Availability for a permanent full-time hybrid role with office attendance in Manchester twice a week and participation in incident management rotas.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Kubernetes and Kafka.
• Experience in media, audio streaming, or consumer platforms.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tooling.
