Quality Control Manager (Aerospace Coatings)

Salary: $95,000–$105,000 per year

What you will do

• Maintain and improve the AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management system for coating formulation and manufacturing.
• Represent the facility during customer and third-party audits and ensure compliance with aerospace, military, OEM, and regulatory specifications.
• Oversee laboratory testing, equipment calibration, incoming inspection, material approvals, and the Material Review Board for non-conforming batches.
• Lead root cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, SPC implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage quality metrics, supplier approvals, documentation retention, FOD prevention, and counterfeit prevention programs.
• Lead and develop a quality team of two direct reports while collaborating with Production, Operations, Maintenance, Customer Service, R&D, and Application Engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
• At least five years of quality management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001, including internal and external audits, is required.
• Expertise in root cause analysis, FMEA, and Statistical Process Control.
• Experience managing quality systems in a large, matrixed corporate structure and developing QMS processes.
• Must be a US citizen.

Nice to have

• Experience with coating characterization equipment and mechanical testing, including adhesion, tribology, wear, and salt spray corrosion testing.
• Knowledge of tribology, solid film lubricants, metallurgy, surface pretreatments, thin-film engineered coatings, and spray, dip-spin, and curing methods.
