Substance Abuse Counselor

Location: On-site in Washington, DC, USA

Salary: $32/hour plus potential quarterly bonus

What you will do

• Provide individual and group counseling for patients recovering from drug and alcohol disorders.
• Guide new and returning patients through intake and orientation.
• Develop, update, and maintain individualized treatment plans and accurate patient records.
• Assess patients’ social, educational, economic, and vocational needs.
• Connect patients with community resources and follow up on referrals.
• Respond compassionately to crisis situations and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• On-site availability in Washington, DC is required.
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in human services or a related field is required.
• One of the following Washington, DC credentials is required: CAC I, CAC II, LGPC, LGSW, LICSW, or LPC.
• Ability to use sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive issues.
• Knowledge of human behavior, substance abuse populations, treatment planning, and human social services.

Nice to have

• Experience in behavioral health.
• Experience working with patients and colleagues in stressful situations.
