Principal Architect

Location: London, United Kingdom; 50% hybrid working model, averaging two to three days onsite

What you will do

• Provide architectural leadership across enterprise platforms, internally developed applications and strategic programmes within Internal Products.
• Define architectural principles, technology standards, reference architectures, reusable patterns, target architectures and technology roadmaps.
• Lead architecture for major transformation initiatives, including the Commercial Technology Programme, translating business objectives into scalable technology architectures.
• Establish consistent integration approaches across enterprise SaaS, cloud-native services and internal applications, including APIs, events and interoperability.
• Identify opportunities to simplify the technology estate, reduce duplication and technical debt, and improve reuse, resilience, security, operability and maintainability.
• Manage and develop two senior technical leaders while mentoring senior engineers and strengthening architecture governance and collaboration across the organisation.

Requirements

• Senior experience in technical, solution or enterprise architecture within a complex technology organisation.
• Experience shaping architecture across multiple applications, platforms and business domains, including significant transformation programmes.
• Strong knowledge of modern application architecture, enterprise SaaS platforms, cloud-native technologies and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of enterprise integration, APIs, event-driven architecture, public cloud environments and common integration patterns; AWS experience is preferred.
• Experience establishing architecture principles, standards and governance while preserving team autonomy, and managing architectural risk, technical debt and technology lifecycles.
• Experience managing, coaching or developing senior technical professionals, with excellent communication and cross-organisational influencing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Salesforce, Oracle Fusion, Workday or similar enterprise SaaS ecosystems.
• Experience modernising complex or legacy enterprise technology estates.
• Experience evaluating technology vendors and participating in technology selection or procurement processes.
