TL;DR
Propulsion Test Technician I (Aerospace): Performing engine test operations and building, modifying, and maintaining propulsion test stands with an accent on fluid systems, mechanical hardware, instrumentation, and sensor installation. Focus on troubleshooting complex test equipment, precision cleaning and assembly, and supporting on-site hardware operations including occasional night shifts and weekend work.

Location: On-site at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, United States. Occasional night shifts, weekends, and travel may be required.

Hiring range: $22.80–$34.20 USD per hour.

What you will do

  • Support daily propulsion and engine test operations.
  • Install, check out, troubleshoot, and maintain test stand equipment and hardware.
  • Fabricate, install, troubleshoot, and maintain fluid system tubing and hardware.
  • Assemble, install, check out, and maintain sensors and other components for fluid system monitoring.
  • Disassemble and precision-clean valves, regulators, and related components.
  • Manage inventories of consumables, tooling, and equipment while following procedures, specifications, and test instructions.

Requirements

  • Basic experience in medium- to heavy-industrial maintenance, instrumentation, data and control systems, avionics hardware, or mechanical systems, or an associate degree in a related mechanical or electrical technical discipline.
  • Ability to operate a wide range of hand and power tools for fabrication operations.
  • Mechanical focus: experience with fluid or pneumatic systems, mechanical components, and related systems.
  • Instrumentation focus: experience with electronic circuits, measurement sensors, and electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, or multimeters.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds unassisted and work while standing for extended periods, stooping, bending, crawling, and maneuvering in tight spaces.
  • Successful candidates must clear a US government-administered background check to obtain clearance for on-site work at the government partner location.

Nice to have

  • Experience operating industrial warehouse equipment.
  • Experience installing and repairing instrumentation, data acquisition systems, or avionics systems.
  • Experience fabricating, installing, and checking out fluid system tubing and hardware.
