Site Reliability Engineer (Algorithmic Trading)

Location: Chicago office, United States

Annual base salary: $130,000–$225,000, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Provide 24/7 first-line support for trading, testing, and research environments in collaboration with software engineers and traders.
• Monitor production systems, define observability for application SLAs, and build anomaly detectors to identify issues before they affect trading.
• Maintain the test trading environment and automate routine interventions needed for platform stability.
• Standardize CI/CD and operational processes, improve deployment scripts, and strengthen release verification.
• Perform stress tests, verify SLAs under load, and improve support for performance testing.
• Work with traders, engineers, system administrators, data centers, networking, and shared services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–10+ years of hands-on software development or SRE experience.
• Experience with logging, metrics, tracing, and other observability tools.
• Hands-on scripting experience with Bash, Python, or Ruby, plus an automation-first approach.
• Strong knowledge of Linux TCP/IP, multicast networking, network protocols, network capture, and time synchronization.
• Ability to diagnose issues from the application layer through networking and low-level hardware, with strong ownership and follow-through.

• Experience with AI agents for accelerating SRE tasks.
