Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Life-Cycle (Aerospace): Owning end-to-end manufacturing strategy and readiness for jet propulsion systems from new product introduction through full-rate production with an accent on DFM/DFA, process definition, scalability, and production quality. Focus on reducing manufacturing risks, improving yield and cycle time, resolving technical issues, and coordinating design, operations, supply chain, quality, and program teams.

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee, United States; role located at the Knoxville facility

What you will do

  • Own manufacturing engineering strategy and execution readiness for assigned products, modules, or components from NPI through full-rate production.
  • Drive DFM and DFA collaboration with Design Engineering and define processes, tolerances, tooling concepts, workflows, and production requirements.
  • Lead manufacturing planning, readiness, process implementation, and production scale-up with Plant Manufacturing Engineering teams.
  • Identify and resolve manufacturing risks, technical issues, production constraints, and quality problems through root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Drive trade studies and continuous improvement focused on cost, yield, throughput, quality, cycle time, and producibility.
  • Maintain manufacturing documentation and represent manufacturing engineering on Integrated Product Teams, program reviews, capacity planning, and production ramp activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace, defense, propulsion, turbomachinery, additive manufacturing, or complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting products through NPI and production, including manufacturing readiness and production transition.
  • Strong understanding of machining, assembly, additive manufacturing, welding, or related manufacturing processes.
  • Experience collaborating with design engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and program management teams.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required.

Nice to have

  • Aerospace propulsion or rotating machinery experience.
  • Experience scaling products from prototype to production and supporting low-rate initial production or production ramp activities.
  • Familiarity with APQP, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, lean manufacturing, GD&T, and advanced manufacturing methods.
  • Experience in a high-growth or fast-paced engineering organization.
