Smartsheet Solutions Architect (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Fully remote within the United States; periodic travel of up to 50% may be required for customer and business projects.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy custom software integrations and web applications using Ruby on Rails, REST APIs, and backend frameworks.
• Architect scalable data integration pipelines connecting enterprise SaaS platforms with CRM, ERP, ETL, analytics, and other business systems.
• Manage technical delivery for custom development, system integration, and data migration workstreams.
• Lead technical design workshops, define requirements and architectural blueprints, and document solution specifications.
• Assess feasibility and level of effort for professional services and presales engagements.
• Develop reusable solution templates and integration tools while providing technical feedback to Product and Platform Engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience configuring, customizing, architecting, and implementing enterprise SaaS applications.
• Strong Ruby on Rails backend development experience for web applications and API integrations.
• Experience with modern programming languages and frameworks such as Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Node, Java, or .NET.
• Knowledge of systems architecture, object-oriented design, database schema design, large-scale data handling, RESTful APIs, webhooks, ETL, SAML, SSO, OAuth, SDLC, version control, release management, and deployment.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States and travel periodically up to 50%.

Nice to have

• Experience architecting custom solutions and integrations on the Smartsheet platform and using the Smartsheet API.
• Professional services or client-facing technical consulting experience.
• Experience with cloud hosting environments and asynchronous background processing.
