Automation Software Engineer (Industrial Automation)

What you will do

• Develop and program automation logic for tissue production machinery.
• Design, program, and validate machinery safety systems, including Safety PLCs.
• Perform machine checkout, FAT, commissioning, start-up, and customer support activities.
• Contribute to new technology development, R&D, and continuous improvement of engineering methods.
• Support electrical design and documentation while managing project budgets and schedules.
• Travel internationally for commissioning and customer installations for approximately 3–6 weeks at a time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
• 4–10 years of relevant experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Hands-on experience with PLC and/or DCS programming, configuration, testing, and commissioning.
• Knowledge of industrial communication networks, control systems integration, engineering documentation, and electrical system design.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in industrial environments.
• Fluent written and spoken English and willingness to travel internationally for commissioning and customer support are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in the process industry, especially tissue or paper manufacturing.
• Experience with hirify.global DNA, Siemens, Rockwell, ABB, or other leading PLC/DCS platforms.
• Experience with Pilz Safety PLC systems, machinery safety standards, and protocols such as PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, or OPC UA.
• Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell, TÜV Functional Safety, Pilz CMSE, ABB, PROFINET, or EtherNet/IP certifications.
