TL;DR
Tactical Operations Engineer (Manufacturing): Designing and implementing operating systems, workflows, and continuous improvement initiatives that increase manufacturing throughput, reduce lead time, and improve on-time delivery with an accent on Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, production planning, and capacity management. Focus on identifying shop-floor bottlenecks, leading value stream mapping and kaizen activities, analyzing KPIs, and driving cross-functional organizational change.

Location: Cheswick, Pennsylvania, United States. US citizenship is required due to DoD requirements, and the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Salary: $76,200–$110,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Design and implement systems, workflows, standard work, and process improvements that strengthen execution and accountability.
  • Identify production constraints and remove shop-floor bottlenecks to improve process flow, throughput, lead time, and on-time delivery.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including kaizen events, value stream mapping, and process improvement workshops.
  • Conduct cost estimates, engineering studies, feasibility analyses, research programs, and pilot projects.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, and Production teams to execute operational improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor KPIs, identify performance trends, implement corrective actions, and support change adoption.

Requirements

  • US citizenship required due to DoD requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in manufacturing, operations, industrial engineering, or continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated success with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, capacity management, scheduling, workflow optimization, analytical problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Experience with value stream mapping, kaizen administration, 5S, and other Lean tools.
  • Experience implementing manufacturing operating systems or production control systems.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel or Power BI.
