Commercial Underwriter (Finance)

Location: Fully onsite in Pasadena, California, United States

Salary: $75,000–$135,000 per year, with potential performance-based incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Analyze and evaluate new and renewal middle-market credit requests, including working capital lines, asset-based lines, commercial real estate loans, and equipment financing.
• Prepare concise credit recommendations with quantitative analysis, dual risk ratings, loan coding, and identification or mitigation of policy and guideline exceptions.
• Analyze business, industry, financial, and supporting credit information to identify risks and help structure loans.
• Spread financial statements and income tax returns, calculate covenants, monitor borrower performance, and address covenant violations.
• Collaborate with Client Solutions Managers and Relationship Managers on customer calls, financial information requests, credit approvals, and ancillary products.
• Maintain compliance with bank policies, procedures, the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, and other applicable regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Completed accounting coursework, including intermediate accounting, through an accredited institution or bank credit training.
• 2–4 years of commercial credit analysis or underwriting experience, or equivalent experience.
• Experience spreading company and personal financial statements, including tax returns, using Moody’s Risk Analyst or a comparable tool.
• Basic experience analyzing and monitoring commercial lines of credit, term loans, income-property real estate, nonprofit lending, or specialty lending.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, Excel, and Word skills, with experience working with bank credit policies and documentation.
