Manager, Software Engineering - Factory Platform (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Lead a team of 5–10 software engineers, including hiring, career development, performance reviews, and regular 1:1s.
• Set the team roadmap and priorities with design and test engineering stakeholders.
• Build engineering analysis platforms, design tools, and data pipelines for Terran R optimization.
• Guide architectural decisions and establish standards for code quality, testing, deployment, and incident response.
• Partner with propulsion, structures, avionics, and test engineers to remove workflow bottlenecks.
• Contribute code when time permits and promote ownership and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience across multiple production systems.
• Proven experience hiring, retaining, and developing engineers.
• Expertise in React and modern frontend tooling.
• Fluency in at least one backend language, such as Go or Python, with willingness to work across the stack.
• Ability to drive architectural decisions, build stakeholder alignment, and communicate clearly in design documents and feedback.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of engineering management experience with direct reports.
• Experience managing managers or multiple teams.
• Experience with engineering analysis tools, scientific computing, simulation, CAD/CAE, or test data systems.
• Aerospace, automotive, or other hardware-driven industry experience.
• DevOps, MLOps, or data platform engineering experience.
