TL;DR
Senior Quality Inspector, Production Floor, First Shift (Aerospace) (Terran R rocket hardware): Conducting in-process and final inspections of propulsion components, large structures, and mechanical assemblies with an accent on dimensional accuracy, hardware compliance, and non-conformance documentation. Focus on using precision tools and borescopes, resolving quality issues with engineering and production teams, and improving inspection processes on the production floor.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite, first shift, Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. PT

Salary: $31.20–$46.80 USD per hour; 50-hour workweek with 10 guaranteed overtime hours each week

What you will do

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections of propulsion components, large structures, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform dimensional inspections of flight hardware using micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and other precision hand tools.
  • Review hardware requirements, determine pass/fail status, and document non-conformances and deviations.
  • Perform FOD inspections with borescopes and take closeout photos of large integrated assemblies after final walkdowns.
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to quality initiatives.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, production, inspectors, and quality stakeholders to resolve inspection issues.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of quality inspection experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment supporting production hardware.
  • Expert proficiency with precision hand tools, including micrometers, calipers, and bore gages.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with MRB processes, including identification, documentation, and disposition of non-conforming hardware.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, production, and quality teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience inspecting COPVs or avionics hardware, including electrical connectors, harnesses, and integrated assemblies.
  • Experience leading projects or influencing quality improvements without formal authority.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous or previously undefined environments.
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
