Lead Components Engineer

Location: Santa Clarita, California, United States — onsite

Salary: $108,900–$145,200 per year, plus potential bonus

What you will do

• Lead sourcing, selection, qualification, and lifecycle management of complex, high-impact electronic components.
• Evaluate alternative technologies and suppliers to reduce costs and improve quality and reliability.
• Mitigate component obsolescence risks and identify alternate sources.
• Serve as the technical interface between suppliers and internal design engineering teams to resolve component issues.
• Develop and maintain standards for vendor selection, component qualification, and supplier change notifications.
• Oversee component data systems, qualification records, documentation, and approval workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 8–12+ years of experience in component engineering, electronics design support, or related hardware engineering.
• Expertise in component sourcing, qualification, reliability evaluation, obsolescence management, and supplier technical assessments.
• Strong understanding of electronic component technologies, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
• Experience leading cross-functional technical activities and guiding less experienced engineers.
• Strong communication and vendor-management skills, including direct interaction with suppliers and engineering teams.
