Sr. Engineer - Cloud Backend (Hybrid) - Sunnyvale

Location: Hybrid in Sunnyvale, California, USA

Base salary: $140,000–$215,000 per year, with eligibility for bonuses and equity grants.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate high-throughput, low-latency backend services and APIs in Golang and Python.
• Architect and operate cloud-native infrastructure across AWS and GCP, including S3, SQS, Kubernetes, and KEDA.
• Build and maintain Kafka-based event-streaming pipelines for near-real-time vulnerability processing.
• Own service reliability through performance profiling, incident response, root-cause analysis, observability, and continuous re-engineering.
• Partner with security researchers and platform teams to deliver integrated vulnerability-assessment capabilities.
• Build agentic systems that reason over real data, use tools, produce explainable results, and operate safely for enterprise customers.

Requirements

• 8–12 years of backend engineering experience.
• Production experience with Golang or Java and strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on AWS experience, including S3 and SQS, plus experience with Kafka or another event-streaming platform.
• Strong database skills with Cassandra, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Redis, or similar distributed data stores.
• Hands-on experience with frontier-model SDKs such as Anthropic or OpenAI, AI-assisted development tools, and AI technologies for decision-making and workflow improvement.
• Effective communication, strong collaboration in global teams, and a commitment to tested, reviewed, continuously integrated production code.

Nice to have

• Cybersecurity, vulnerability-management, Kubernetes, KEDA, observability, or infrastructure-as-code experience.
• Windows internals and Windows API knowledge.
• Experience with large-scale data acquisition, content pipelines, agentic-system evaluation, RAG pipelines, vector stores, or graph databases.
