Director, Engineering Excellence & Design Standards (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Dallas, Texas or San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $209,197–$313,795 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Establish and own engineering design standards across X-BAT, V-BAT, and other programs.
• Define best practices for aerospace design, analysis workflows, and system-level engineering rigor.
• Standardize CAD usage, drawing quality, standard notes, release processes, and engineering documentation.
• Improve manufacturing and supply chain handoffs through EBOM and MBOM creation and part-demand planning.
• Build an engineering excellence framework that supports near-term execution and long-term scalability.
• Align engineering teams and influence design and configuration-management decisions across disciplines.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in aerospace or high-performance hardware design environments.
• Broad technical background across mechanical, aerospace, systems, or related engineering domains.
• Experience defining or applying design standards, documentation practices, and configuration-management systems.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, DO-160, and ASME Y14.5 for GD&T.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior engineers, drive cross-team alignment, and improve engineering quality and scalability.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR-level security clearance is desired.
