Application Technical Leader (Java)

Location: Rome, Italy, with smart working possibility under a hybrid work model

Salary: From €40,000 gross annual base salary, determined according to the applicable Italian collective labor agreement and experience, responsibility, and skills.

What you will do

• Own software and application solutions end to end, from design through production, ensuring code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
• Design, develop, and execute new features and system upgrades using Java EE, Spring, single-page applications, microservices, Docker, and cloud architectures.
• Provide technical guidance, delivery support, code reviews, and quality assurance for junior and mid-level engineers.
• Analyze and resolve complex technical issues by evaluating alternative solutions.
• Work directly with Business Analysts, Project Managers, and stakeholders to validate technical requirements and align solutions with business objectives.
• Define technical standards, best practices, and design patterns, and contribute to technical interviews and technology evaluation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree; a technical field such as Computer Science or Computer Engineering is preferred.
• Advanced expertise in Java EE, Spring Core/MVC/Security/Data/Boot, single-page application frameworks, microservices, Docker, cloud architectures, design patterns, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Strong software development skills covering code quality, architecture design, cloud application deployment, DevOps practices, and agile or waterfall methodologies.
• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, including cloud AI services, LLM platforms such as Azure OpenAI, basic ML frameworks, and AI API integration.
• Ability to translate business needs into structured technical requirements, including AI-driven classification, automation, and RAG features.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, and results-oriented skills.
