TL;DR
Senior Manager, Propulsion and Fluids Analysis (Aerospace): Leading propulsion and thermal analysis for artificial-gravity, human-rated space station systems with an accent on structural FEA, multiphase fluid behavior, and high-pressure gas dynamics. Focus on building and validating analysis models, integrating simulation with ground and flight test data, and guiding multidisciplinary teams through hardware development and NASA certification.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. The role is subject to U.S. export control requirements: the person hired must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.

Salary: $164,000–$232,800 USD annually.

Company

hirify.global develops next-generation commercial space stations and spacecraft to support a continuous human presence in space, microgravity research, manufacturing, and a new space economy.

What you will do

  • Lead, hire, mentor, and develop a team of propulsion and thermal analysts.
  • Establish analysis standards and methods across structural, fluid, and thermal engineering.
  • Create and maintain FEA models, define critical loads and load cases, and support component design and certification.
  • Oversee multiphase propellant feed-system and microgravity fluid modeling, including vaporization, condensation, propellant acquisition, and slosh dynamics.
  • Guide high-pressure gas, transient flow, heat-transfer, and thruster plume impingement analyses.
  • Integrate simulation results with ground and flight test data, lead root-cause investigations, and present findings at design reviews and NASA certification processes.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related Engineering field.
  • 8+ years of relevant aerospace design and analysis experience.
  • 2+ years managing or overseeing a technical engineering or analysis team.
  • Strong expertise in structural analysis, including FEA modeling, stress analysis, and load-case development.
  • Experience with thermo-fluid analysis tools, including CFD and one-dimensional system modeling.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and design-for-manufacturability principles.

Nice to have

  • M.S. or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field.
  • Experience with human spaceflight hardware, multiphase fluid dynamics, propellant management, and low-gravity slosh modeling.
  • Experience with thermo-mechanical fatigue, fracture analysis, spectrum-loading fatigue analysis, high-pressure gas systems, transient fluid dynamics, and heat exchangers.
  • 5+ years of experience with liquid or gas rocket engine combustion devices, including RCS design.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams that connect analysis predictions with test and qualification data.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time exempt employment with company equity.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents.
  • Paid time off, paid parental leave, disability insurance, and life insurance.
  • Access to a 401(k) retirement plan, ClassPass credits, personalized mental healthcare, and additional discounts.
