Focus on CFD modeling, zero- and micro-gravity fluid management, propellant slosh and mass gauging, validating predictions through testing, and developing reusable analysis tools.

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Flexible schedule and willingness to travel as needed are required. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under applicable U.S. export regulations.

Salary: $135,000–$185,000 per year, with potential stock options and additional benefits.

Company

hirify.global Space develops in-space transportation vehicles and propulsion systems for missions beyond Low Earth Orbit, including orbital transport, constellation deployment, and precision reentry services.

What you will do

  • Perform and document fluid and thermal analyses for liquid propellant rocket engines, tanks, and feed systems.
  • Size propellant management devices, baffles, and screens using industry-standard equations and hand calculations.
  • Conduct CFD analyses of internal flow geometries and model multiphase, acceleration-dominated, slosh, and mass-gauging phenomena.
  • Support validation testing of tank propellant management devices and ground analytical predictions in practical test or flight data.
  • Develop company-wide analysis processes and tools, secure stakeholder adoption, and provide training.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to peers.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable field.
  • 4+ years of fluid and thermal analysis experience on liquid propellant rocket engines, rocket stages, spacecraft, or similar high-performance systems.
  • 4+ years of professional experience with commercial fluid-analysis software such as Fluent, CFX, or SINDA/FLUINT, plus hand-calculation methods.
  • Basic experience with 3D CAD software; NX is preferred.
  • Strong fundamentals in compressible and incompressible fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
  • U.S. Person status or eligibility to obtain an export license is required because of ITAR and EAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable field.
  • Advanced proficiency with CFD workflows, including geometry preparation, meshing, setup, convergence, and post-processing.
  • Experience with ANSYS CFX, ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, multiphase modeling, waterhammer, or fluid-network modeling.
  • Python, MATLAB, or another high-level programming language for analysis tools and hand calculations.
  • Experience with root-cause analysis and a fast-paced startup environment.

Culture & Benefits

  • Flexible schedule with travel as needed.
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage for eligible full-time hires.
  • Access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Potential long-term incentives in the form of stock options.

Hiring process

  • Application and resume review.
  • Introductory and technical phone interviews.
  • Onsite interview followed by an offer decision.
